Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Mobile Backend for Frontend (MBFF) platform and back-office integration architecture. You will shape the platform direction, drive engineering excellence across microservices and cloud-native systems, and lead DevOps and AI-enabled operational practices.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Experience leading architecture for distributed systems or platform-level backend services.
Deep experience with cloud-native apps, microservices, REST/GraphQL/WebSocket patterns.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture, design, and evolution of MBFF platform and core microservices.
Define and drive technical strategy for scalable APIs and platform capabilities.
Establish engineering standards for reliability, observability, security, and operational readiness.
Drive DevOps maturity: CI/CD, release automation, environment strategy, production support.
Mentor senior engineers and raise technical quality across teams.
Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and SRE teams to align platform direction.
