Job summary

Supernal is seeking a Staff/Principal Software Engineer to own the core platform powering our AI employees. You will shape architecture, drive scalability, and ensure reliability across Django backend, Celery/Temporal workflows, and Kubernetes deployments.

This role offers substantial autonomy, mentoring for the engineering team, and a path to influence product direction in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and operating production backend systems at scale.
• Strong Python (Django) and PostgreSQL expertise.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes, Helm, and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with distributed systems and async task systems.
• Production experience with Celery or Dramatiq.

Responsibilities

• Own platform architecture decisions for scalable patterns.
• Review code, designs for scalability, reliability, and security.
• Mentor engineers and establish platform best practices.
• Own core backend performance and correctness (Django/DRF/ASGI).
• Scale async execution across Celery, Dramatiq, Temporal.
• Optimize PostgreSQL and caching strategies.
• Maintain Kubernetes deployment infra and CI/CD/rollouts.
• Ensure reliability of RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL; lead incidents.
• Extend observability with OpenTelemetry and Datadog dashboards.
