Job summary

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. This is a senior Platform Engineering staff role focused on long-range platform direction, architecture, and cross-team coordination.

You will coach engineers at scale, create design standards, and own multi-year technical judgement. The role emphasizes production ownership, customer-centric design, and hands-on contribution to critical systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior level impact.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, databases/storage, networking, data engineering, or applied AI systems.
• Proven influence beyond own team and multi-year technical judgement.
• Strong written design documentation that persuades and guides others.
• Experience owning systems in production, including on-call and incident response.
• Customer-centric approach prioritizing usefulness over elegance.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction across multiple teams with a horizon measured in years.
• Raise engineering capability through design and architecture reviews, pairing, and teaching.
• Deliver large pieces of work by growing engineers rather than building everything yourself.
• Address cross-team problems and write the design documents and standards used by others.
• Be the depth in your domain and share it openly to accelerate the organization.
• Prototype to resolve open questions, basing decisions on evidence.
• Stay hands-on with code, debugging, and pager duty for owned systems.
• Identify and fix root causes of organizational slowdowns in the software stack.
