Job summary

IREN is seeking a senior staff platform engineer to drive multi-team architectural decisions and shape the platform beyond the current roadmap. This individual contributor role emphasizes coaching, design leadership, and delivering large-scale solutions that improve downstream teams.

The successful candidate will own cross-team architectural reviews, write design documents, and guide engineers toward scalable, reliable systems in production, with a customer-centric focus and strong written

Qualifications

Must have 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including senior level work.
Deep expertise in at least one domain (e.g., distributed systems, databases/storage, networking, data engineering, or applied AI).
Proven technical influence beyond own team and across multiple teams.
Strong written communication and ability to produce design docs used by other teams.
Experience owning systems in production, including operations and incident response.

Responsibilities

Own the technical direction across multiple teams, with a multi-year horizon.
Coach engineers at scale, through reviews, pairing, and teaching materials.
Deliver large pieces of work by growing the engineers who build them, not by doing everything yourself.
Write and review design documents and technical standards used by others.
