Western Alliance Bancorporation seeks a Staff Engineer II- Platform Engineer to guide data platform design across Azure and Fabric. You will ensure secure, scalable, and compliant platforms while enabling data engineering teams and aligning with enterprise standards.

The role requires deep cloud experience, leadership across multi-disciplinary teams, and a hands-on approach to automation, monitoring, and governance. Occasional travel up to 25% is possible.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Microsoft Azure Platform or similar cloud platform support.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science & engineering or related field.
• Expertise in Microsoft Azure & Microsoft Fabric including Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse/Workspaces.
• Experience with Platform provisioning & automation (ARM, Terraform, YAML pipelines).
• CI/CD using Azure DevOps, Monitoring & observability frameworks.
• Security & access management (RBAC, Managed Identity, Service Principals).
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or PySpark.
• Leadership experience leading cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and cataloging tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning related to technical solution design.
• Design reliability and recovery procedures.
• Develop platform monitoring metrics for partners.
• Create and maintain architectural runbooks and docs.
• Manage data platform services across Azure and Fabric.
• Own platform availability, reliability, and performance.
• Implement backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
• Support incident triage and root cause analysis.
