Job summary

Motive is seeking a Staff Engineer on the Developer Productivity team to lead automation and tooling across SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT. You will shape platform direction, build automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines, and advance self-service engineering to empower fast, reliable releases.

You will mentor engineers, improve the SDLC, and enhance local development experiences, while ensuring secure, scalable distributed services across Golang, Ruby on Rails, and Python services.

Qualifications

• 6+ years engineering experience.
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience building CI/CD infrastructure with multiple pipelines (Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Github Actions).
• Improving the SDLC release process.
• Streamlining microservice creation mechanisms.
• Streamlining developer environments (Ansible, local Kubernetes).
• Experience with Git flow and versioning strategies.
• Experience in Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python or similar languages.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and technologies.
• Infrastructure as code / configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
• Containerized environments with Kubernetes orchestration.

• Define direction and initiatives for the team and platform.
• Build fully automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines.
• Promote self-service engineering technologies and approaches.
• Improve local development experience and maintain consistency.
• Build self-healing infrastructure for fast automated testing.
• Improve performance and reliability of existing systems.
• Host sessions and demos to drive adoption.
• Coach and mentor engineers and collaborate on designs.
