Job summary

Motive is hiring a Staff Engineer for the Developer Productivity team in Nashville, United States. You will lead the development and automation backbone for the Motive platform, spanning SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT, focusing on secure, scalable services and self-service engineering.

You will mentor engineers and drive adoption of best practices across multiple languages and stacks. You will shape bootstrapping pipelines, improve local development flows, and build resilient infrastructure to

Qualifications

• 6+ years engineering experience.
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Building CI/CD infrastructure with multiple pipeline solutions (Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Github Actions).
• Improving the SDLC release process.
• Streamlining developers' local environments (Ansible, local kubernetes).
• Git flow and versioning strategy expertise.
• Experience with reproducible builds across the org.
• Advocating best engineering practices across the org.
• Experience with Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python or similar languages.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and technologies.
• Infrastructure as code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Helm).
• Large-scale distributed release management processes; Kubernetes orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Define direction and initiatives for the team and platform.
• Build fully automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines.
• Evangelize self-service engineering technologies and approaches.
• Advance the local development experience while ensuring consistency.
• Build self-healing infrastructure enabling fast, robust automated testing.
• Improve performance and reliability of existing systems.
• Host Brown Bag sessions, demos to drive adoption and collaboration.
• Coach and mentor engineers and collaborate on designs.
