Job summary

Motive is seeking a Staff Engineer on the Developer Productivity team to lead automated build, delivery and tooling initiatives for the Motive platform across SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT products. You will shape the development and release pipelines, improve the local development experience, and mentor engineers to drive adoption of best practices.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years of engineering experience, strong CI/CD and IaC skills, and deep knowledge of Kubernetes, AWS, and modern software

Qualifications

• 6+ years engineering experience.
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field.
• Experience building CI/CD infrastructure with multiple pipelines (Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Github Actions, etc).
• Improving the SDLC release process.
• Streamlining developers' local environments (Ansible, local Kubernetes, etc).
• Git flow and versioning strategy expertise.
• Experience with reproducible builds across the org.
• Experience in Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python or similar languages.
• AWS services and technologies knowledge.
• Infrastructure as code and configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, etc.).
• Large-scale distributed release management experience.
• Containerized environments with Kubernetes orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Define direction and initiatives for the team and platform.
• Build fully automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines.
• Evangelize self-service engineering technologies and approaches.
• Improve local development experience and maintain consistency.
• Build self-healing infrastructure for fast automated testing.
• Improve performance and reliability of existing systems.
• Host sessions, demos to drive adoption and collaboration.
• Coach and mentor engineers and collaborate on designs.
