Job summary

Attentive is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the platform team to drive technical direction for our compute and networking platform that underpins our microservices. You will build reusable cloud components, interfaces, and self-service tools to improve reliability, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.

You will lead architecture discussions, collaborate with engineering leaders, and guide cross-team initiatives from problem definition to production operation, balancing delivery

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing, building, and operating large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems with technical leadership across teams.
• Strong software engineering background with maintainable software, tooling, or APIs to solve infra problems.
• Ability to identify opportunities, clarify ambiguity, and lead complex technical initiatives through delivery and production ownership.
• Customer empathy to translate feedback into platform improvements, driving adoption and outcomes.
• Ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs and align multiple teams with differing priorities.
• Deep experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms, IaC, and reusable infra abstractions.
• Production experience operating Kubernetes, including architecture, networking, and failure modes.
• Experience in release engineering, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and safe deployments.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technical direction and architecture of Attentive’s platform within the compute and networking team.
• Partner with engineering teams to build platform software, APIs, and self-service tools to reduce friction.
• Lead complex initiatives across teams from problem definition to production deployment.
• Evolve Kubernetes and networking across AWS accounts to support growth and efficiency.
• Own and improve Infrastructure-as-Code orchestration and reusable cloud components.
• Diagnose production issues and drive improvements in design, observability, and operations.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency while reducing overhead.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to raise engineering standards.
• Introduce AI-assisted engineering practices to boost productivity without compromising quality.
