Job summary

BD is seeking a Staff Engineer, Software Engineering to join our Connected Care team in Irvine, CA. This hands-on role will drive platform infrastructure, cloud-native services, and EHR-integrations across Go, Java, React, and JavaScript.

You''ll lead engineers, design scalable systems, implement CI/CD, and ensure security, performance, and reliability in AWS environments. On-site collaboration is expected, with opportunities to grow professionally at BD.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building large-scale healthcare software.
• Experience with Terraform and/or CDK.
• Proven experience running AWS production systems (2–3 years).
• Experience leading engineers and delivering features.
• Designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience in Java, React, and JavaScript.
• Strong coding practices and thorough documentation.
• Familiarity with SOX, PCI, HIPAA compliance is a plus.
• Unit/integration testing experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of agile software development, including design, implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Architect end-to-end systems optimized for performance, scale, and reliability.
• Work primarily in Go, Java, React, and JavaScript.
• Develop platform SDKs and RESTful APIs.
• Plan and lead other engineers to deliver features in a fast-paced environment.
• Develop, maintain CDK scripts to support provisioning of infrastructure.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for efficient delivery.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and API guides.
• Understand user experience and product strategy; design with a customer-centric mindset.
• Communicate clearly across teams to influence execution.
• Design scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK or Terraform.
• Develop internal SDKs and tooling for AWS service integrations.
• Own reliability, security, and observability of AWS environments.
