Job summary

Sharp Performance is building a scalable backend platform to support a fast-growing coaching marketplace for first responders. The Staff Software Engineer will co-own the core platform architecture, including a Laravel monolith, APIs, and integrations, while guiding teams toward reliable, observable delivery.

The role emphasizes leadership at a staff/IC level, hands-on coding, and defining the path to a scalable, secure, multi-tenant system with strong incident response practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production backend systems.
• Experience scaling a system through real growth.
• Strong relational database skills (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and cloud infra expertise.

Responsibilities

• Co-own the architecture and long-term health of our core platform (Laravel monolith).
• Build platform foundations: stable APIs, CI/CD, environments, observability.
• Lead scaling work end to end; identify bottlenecks in DB, queues, caching, integrations.
