Opiniion is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the backend of our next-generation platform. The role is a hands-on, senior individual contributor who mentors engineers and sets standards for scalable, reliable services.

You will collaborate with architecture, product, data, and platform teams to deliver production-grade systems and AI-enabled capabilities. We value ownership, pragmatic design decisions, and the ability to move fast while maintaining quality.

Qualifikationen

• 10+ years of backend software development experience at staff level or equivalent.
• Proven experience designing scalable backend systems in SaaS or similar.
• Strong knowledge of service-oriented, event-driven, and domain-driven design.
• Deep proficiency in Python, Java, or Go.
• Experience designing APIs across REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
• Hands-on with cloud infrastructure and containerized deployments.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into production.
• Mentoring engineers and improving technical quality.
• Clear written and verbal communication with strong ownership.

Aufgaben

• Write high-quality backend code for production systems that support performance and reliability.
• Govern backend architecture standards and service boundaries with the Staff Software Architect.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and guidance.
• Design and ship services, APIs, and data flows for current and next-gen architecture.
• Contribute to AI-capable backend systems and workflows for production.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues.
• Drive testing, observability, deployment, and operational readiness.
• Participate in technical design reviews and tradeoffs decisions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and platform partners.
• Improve team execution by reducing ambiguity and reinforcing patterns.
