Job description

This is a remote position. Ideal candidate must reside in Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee and preferably within an hour of our sites.

During the approximately 2–3-month training period, the hours will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 6 pm Eastern Time for all candidates.

Once training concludes, the shift schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday, either 9 am - 8 pm or 11 am - 10 pm EST.

• Candidates must be open to being placed in either shift schedule to meet our business needs.

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist interprets physicians’ prescriptions, contacts doctors or other prescribers and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions, and expedites processing of orders. This position is responsible for adhering to regulatory guidelines. The Staff Pharmacist will track order status and resolve outstanding issues, as well as consult with patients regarding medication use and potential drug interactions. The individual may handle calls from customers about lost orders or dispensing errors, maintain daily production, quality, and service levels, and vary work priorities to meet business needs. They may also train less experienced pharmacists.

Essential Functions

1. Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
2. Interpret physicians’ or prescribers’ prescriptions.
3. Contact doctors and/or patients to verify prescription information such as drug strength, sig., and drug name to expedite processing.
4. Verify and confirm the validity of controlled substances.
5. Verify prescription information entered into the system by data entry or order entry.
6. Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorizations.
7. Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs when possible.
8. Consult with patients about medication use and potential drug interactions.
9. Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists.
