Job description

Position Details

This is a remote position. Ideal candidates must reside in Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee, preferably within an hour of our sites.

During the approximately 2–3-month training period, working hours will be Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Eastern Time for all candidates.

Post-training, the shift schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday, either 9 am - 8 pm or 11 am - 10 pm EST.

• Candidates must be open to working either shift schedule to meet our business needs.

Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist interprets physicians’ prescriptions, contacts doctors or prescribers, and/or patients to verify prescription details and expedite processing. Responsibilities include adhering to regulatory guidelines, tracking order status, resolving issues, and consulting with patients about medication use and potential drug interactions. The pharmacist may handle customer calls regarding lost orders or errors, maintain daily production and quality standards, adjust work priorities, and train less experienced pharmacists.

Essential Functions

1. Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians.
2. Interpret physicians’ or prescribers’ prescriptions.
3. Contact doctors and/or patients to verify prescription details such as drug strength, sig, and name to expedite processing.
4. Verify and confirm the validity of controlled substances.
5. Verify prescription information entered into the system.
6. Contact physicians for new or transfer authorizations.
7. Collaborate with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs when possible.
8. Consult with patients on medication use and drug interactions.
9. Back up other pharmacists as needed and perform additional duties or training as assigned.
