Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, is recruiting a full-time Staff Pathologist for the John Cochran Division of the VA St. Louis Health Care System.

The role involves interpreting clinical lab data, consulting on surgical and cytology cases, and signing out pathology reports. Applicants should have an MD/DO, full US license, and completed residency in an accredited pathology program, with preferred fellowship in FNA-cytopathology or surgical pathology.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship requirement or equivalent
  • MD/DO degree from an approved medical school
  • Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US
  • Residency in an accredited core pathology program
  • Board eligibility or certification in a relevant pathology specialty
  • Preference for fellowship in surgical pathology or cytopathology

Responsibilities

  • Interpret clinical laboratory data and communicate findings to providers
  • Provide diagnostic consultation for surgical and cytology cases
  • Perform gross and microscopic examination and sign-out of cases
  • Assist in rapid adequacy assessment for fine-needle aspirates
  • Participate in quality control and regulatory compliance
  • Travel between campus and outreach sites as needed
