Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Staff Physician - Pathologist to provide full-spectrum pathology services within Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The incumbent will maintain licensure and run the laboratory seven days a week, providing diagnostic interpretation and clinical consultation. The position requires MD or equivalent, VA-approved residency leading to board eligibility, and current unrestricted license in the United States.

Qualifications

  • MD or equivalent degree from an approved school.
  • Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
  • Residency training approved by VA for board eligibility.
  • Board certification may be required for faculty status.
  • English proficiency in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full scope pathology services: chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, blood bank, cytology, anatomic pathology.
  • Sign out surgical pathology and cytology with CAP-guidelines.
  • Review gross specimens and intraoperative frozen sections.
  • Provide clinical consultation and interpretation of laboratory results.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and QoA measures.
  • May serve as medical director of one or more Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
  • Provide 24-hour on-call services as scheduled.
