Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System is actively recruiting for a full-time Staff Pathologist within the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service at the John Cochran Division.

The role involves interpreting clinical laboratory data, surgical and cytology sign-out, and participation in quality control, with occasional travel to VA sites. Strong credentials in FNA-cytopathology/subspecialties are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English for report communications and teaching.
• MD degree from an school approved for the program.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
• Residency training in an ACGME/AOA-accredited program or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interpret clinical laboratory data and communicate conclusions to providers, residents, and students.
• Perform gross and microscopic examination with sign out of surgical and cytology specimens and issue reports.
• Provide rapid adequacy assessment for fine-needle aspiration specimens.
• Perform frozen sections and intraoperative consultations as needed.
• Engage in quality-control and quality-improvement activities to meet regulatory standards.
• Represent the laboratory in committees or outreach activities and collaborate with VA and non-VA institutions.
