Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; Associate degree considered with relevant experience or active matriculation in a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records.
• Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Plan discharge consistent with patient status and facilitate inter-departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patients based on their level of awareness and readiness to learn.
• Support orientation of new staff by providing feedback and acting as a preceptor.
• Serve as a role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority needs of patients and unit.
• Report patient condition requiring intervention to leadership.
• Participate in the development of other staff members.
• Document collaborative efforts in meeting patient and unit needs.
