Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Physician Group to provide direct patient care to acutely ill patients, coordinate nursing care, and support education for patients and families. The role includes phone triage, communication of abnormal results, and adherence to ANA nursing standards.

Required: active RN license in the state, CPR/BLS, and ability to work within the patient care team. Preferred: BSN and bilingual abilities.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of employment.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience within the past five years or new nursing graduate within the past two years.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing care using evidence-based practice to optimize patient safety.
• Administer medications accurately and follow six rights; tailor care to age/condition.
• Assess and plan patient care, document learning needs and discharge planning.
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families; educate as needed.
• Involve patient and family in the care plan and coordinate across care teams.
• Participate in quality improvement and department projects.
