Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide direct patient care across the admission-to-discharge continuum in a fast-paced environment. You will assess, plan, and execute age-appropriate care, collaborate with the care team, and ensure evidence-based practice guides all nursing interventions.

Qualified candidates hold a BSN, an active IL RN license, and BLS; ER/Emergency qualifications (ACLS, PALS/TNCC) are favored.

Qualifications

• BSN is required.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse.
• American Heart Association BLS.
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills.
• ADN may be accepted with commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.
• ER-specific: ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within one year of hire.
• Pediatric ER: TNCC within one year of hire.
• Non-Invasive Cardiology: ACLS preferred.
• Trauma/ED certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and care needs on admission.
• Organize assessment data for accessibility.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention.
• Validate diagnoses with patient/family and team.
• Document diagnoses and plans of care.
• Initiate discharge planning early.
• Provide education based on evidence-based practice.
• Communicate with patient/family and health care team.
• Refer patients as needed for continuity of care.
