Job summary

Applycup is seeking a Senior Software Engineer SDN/Cloud Networking to design and implement advanced L3-L4 networking features. You will work on migrating from OVN-based stacks to a VyOS-based architecture while integrating with OpenStack Neutron/Nova in a remote, full-time role.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in cloud networking or large-scale data centers, strong C/C++ and Python/Golang skills, and deep knowledge of Linux networking, OVS/OVN, and OpenStack internals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud networking, telecom or large-scale data centre environments.
• Hands-on design and implementation of SDN/networking features in C/C++, Golang or Python.
• Deep knowledge of Linux networking, OVS/OVN, and OpenStack Neutron internals.
• Production OpenStack experience with OVN/OVS; VyOS or similar SDN products is a plus.

Responsibilities

Senior Software Engineer SDN / Cloud Networking

About the role

Our client is moving from an OVN-based networking stack to a new VOS-based solution for advanced L3-L4 features.

We need a hands‑on developer who can design networking features from the ground up and make sound architectural and integration decisions.

Key responsibilities

Design and build SDN and virtual‑networking features (routing, NAT, firewall, VPN and other L3‑L4 services). Lead the transition from the OVN/OVS stack to a VyOS‑based architecture.
Integrate the new networking layer with OpenStack (Neutron/Nova).

Own features from design through implementation, testing and production support. Must‑have skills 10+ years of experience in cloud networking, telecom or large‑scale data centre environments.

Strong software development in C/C++, Golang or Python, with a track record of shipping SDN or networking features (not just deploying or supporting them).

Deep knowledge of Linux networking, kernel packet path, OVS/OVN and OpenStack Neutron internals. Protocols and technologies: BGP, OSPF, ECMP, VRRP, VXLAN/GENEVE, IPsec, iptables/nftables, conntrack.

Production OpenStack experience with OVN/OVS as the networking backend. Good to have Experience with VyOS, VMware NSX or similar SDN products. Contributions to OVN, OVS or Neutron upstream.

Experience at a networking or cloud product company (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Red Hat, Nutanix, VMware/Broadcom and similar).
