Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff ML Engineer to help build and scale robust compute platforms for ML workflows. You’ll work closely with ML engineers and researchers to ensure efficient model training and production deployment.

You’ll shape the user-facing experience of the platform, enabling practitioners to discover, schedule, and debug jobs with ease. This role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and a product mindset.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience.
• Expertise in Go, C++, Python or similar.
• Strong background with Kubernetes at scale.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience leading large-scale initiatives.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core platform backend components.
• Collaborate with ML engineers and researchers to understand platform pain points and improve developer experience.
• Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
• Lead large-scale technical initiatives across GM’s ML ecosystem.
• Interface with other teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
• Contribute to and potentially lead open source projects; represent GM in relevant communities.
