Job summary

Alphatec Spine, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to advance our intra-op spine navigation and robotics software. You will lead software and test engineers, design and implement C++ applications on Unix/Linux, and ensure products meet quality and regulatory standards.

You will collaborate across R&D, marketing, and clinical teams, participate in requirements reviews and risk assessments, and mentor junior staff while traveling up to 15% to support surgical cases and clinical prototyping.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience developing surgical navigation or equivalent medical devices.
BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred.
Proficient in C++ development on Linux with Qt experience a plus.
Experience with IEC 62304 and FDA-regulated environments.
Strong leadership, time management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and mentor software and test engineers.
Design, develop, test, and document software applications for surgical navigation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan features and regulatory strategies.
Perform architecture decisions and contribute to roadmap.
Travel up to 15%.
