Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer for the Mobile Robotics Engineering team to design, develop, and validate mechanical systems powering autonomous mobile robots. You’ll own subsystems from concept to production while collaborating with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred), 8+ years of mechanical design experience (mobile robots or automation), SolidWorks expertise with GD&T, and strong DFMA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of mechanical design experience.
• 8+ years in design of mobile robots or automation equipment is required.
• Strong background in machine design, structural analysis, FEA, kinematics and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mobile robot mechanical systems (chassis, drivetrains, suspension).
• Perform torque, speed, durability, and lifecycle analyses to meet specs.
• DFM/DFA collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers; drive cost and quality improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and support design reviews and field validation.
