Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead the mechanical development team for mobile 4-wheeled robot product lines, from concept through production and end-of-life.

You will collaborate with contract manufacturers, drive design of frames, drive systems, packaging, and electromechanical components, and mentor 5-10 engineers, promoting best practices in production problem solving; travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years engineering experience with at least 2 years in management focused on robotics or related fields.
• Strong CAD experience with SolidWorks and PDM/PLM.
• Experience with contract manufacturers including DFM reviews, ECNs, and production issue resolution.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with suppliers, manufacturers and internal teams.
• Willing to travel up to 25% for field site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering team for mobile 4-wheeled robot product lines from concept to end-of-life.
• Drive development of mechanical assemblies including frames, drive systems, packaging, and supporting hardware.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturers to support production builds and resolve defects using RCCA methods.
• Ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met on-time.
• Coach, mentor, and lead a diverse group of 5-10 engineers.
• Promote best practices in mechanical engineering development and production problem solving.
• Help attract and develop top tier talent through recruitment activities and workforce development.
