Job summary

Symbotic is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Fleet Robotics team in its Hardware Engineering group. You will advance mechanical development of mobile robot products from concept through production, collaborating with contract manufacturers and cross-functional teams to solve manufacturing problems.

You will design mechanical assemblies, create 3D models and BOMs, and apply DFM/DFA to scale production while optimizing cost.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years in mechanical engineering, including robotics/automation experience.
Proficiency with SolidWorks and PLM/PDM systems.
Experience supporting contract manufacturers and ECN processes.
Hands-on with jigs, fixtures, tooling, or manufacturing support equipment.
Knowledge of GD&T and common fabrication methods.

Responsibilities

Own hardware for a mobile 4-wheeled robot product line from concept to end-of-life.
Design mechanical assemblies including frames, drives, packaging, and components.
Create 3D models, drawings, and BOMs in CAD tools.
Apply DFM/DFA for high-volume manufacturing and cost efficiency.
Interface with contract manufacturers; support production builds and RCCA.
Present at design reviews; issue ECNs and update PLM records.
Develop jigs and fixtures to improve quality and throughput.
Support PPAP, FAI, ramp activities; travel up to 25% as needed.
