Job summary

MSA Safety is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our Cranberry Township team. You will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define mechanical design requirements and support electrical integration, driving solutions through the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (ABET).
• 2–3+ years relevant experience;Staff II/III levels with possible MS substitution.
• Experience with SAP Engineering and manufacturing document control or similar MRP system.
• Experience with product reliability testing and rapid prototyping.
• Knowledge of design for Manufacturing Assembly using automation.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain mechanical design requirements and drive solutions through the product lifecycle.
• Perform detailed mechanical design, engineering analysis, and troubleshooting for new product development and sustaining efforts.
• Lead sustaining engineering by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and validating improvements.
• Define and execute validation/test plans to ensure performance and reliability.
• Design, develop, and maintain test fixtures and lab equipment for validation activities.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation per company standards.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and validate implemented solutions.
• Participate in Voice of Customer activities and contribute to product specs and features.
• Plan projects, manage priorities, meet milestones, and deliver high-quality work.
• Prepare technical reports, test summaries, and engineering evaluations; present findings.
• Mentor co-ops and interns; contribute to IP work as needed.
