Job summary

MetOx International, Inc. is seeking a Staff Materials Engineer to lead HTS materials development and process scale-up for next‑generation superconducting wire.

Based at our Houston headquarters, you will partner with Process, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to translate laboratory discoveries into robust manufacturing and contribute to the commercialization of a transformative energy technology.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a related field and experience applying advanced materials science.
• 7+ years developing HTS materials, complex oxides, or epitaxial films.
• Strong understanding of processing–structure–property relationships in advanced materials.
• Experience with thin-film growth, epitaxy, defects, and microstructure evolution.
• Ability to design and execute complex experimental programs.
• Experience applying multivariate statistics, ML, or AI to large datasets.
• Strong foundation linking first-principles materials behavior to manufacturing outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead HTS materials strategy and long-term technology roadmap.
• Define process windows and targets to maximize superconducting performance.
• Design and lead experiments to map processing–structure–property relations.
• Collaborate with Process, Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to scale to production.
• Mentor engineers and promote data-driven decision making.
