Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Staff Lab Technician for the Mechanical Sub-Systems group in Syracuse, NY. You will work with engineering to modify and fabricate test units for transport refrigeration, instrument them, and perform electrical work and data acquisition for testing cycles.

Ideal candidates have extensive HVAC/R experience, knowledge of LabVIEW or PLC automation, and familiarity with test infrastructure. Strong communication and IT skills are a plus; position includes comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• 6+ years HVAC/R experience with a high school diploma or GED plus recognized HVAC/R trade training or apprenticeship
• 3+ years HVAC/R experience with an Associate degree in HVAC/R, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology

Responsibilities

• Fabricate Test Unit components, braze and charge as required.
• Instrument test units with thermocouples, RTDs, pressure sensors and power meters.
• Establish connection with the Data Acquisition system and verify data.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration loops, electrical components and controls.
• Execute the test schedule provided by engineering and document results.
• Maintain test stands and support equipment as needed.
