Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Compression Lab Engineer for the Syracuse, NY R&D center. The role covers maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and upgrades of compressor test stands, with hands-on work on mechanical and electrical systems per NEC/UL standards.

Responsibilities include data acquisition, LabVIEW and PLC programming, data management, and collaboration with the compression engineering team to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering or Engineering technology with 2+ years of HVAC/R systems experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering (preferred).
• Experience with HVAC/R systems and EPA 608 certification (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with LabVIEW data acquisition systems and PLC programming (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of calorimeter and reliability test stands.
• Maintain lab data acquisition computers on compressor test stands.
• Maintain and revise LabVIEW data acquisition software and PLC code.
• Manage and store test data generated from compressor testing.
• Collaborate with engineering to design and implement modifications to test stands.
• Guide lab technicians in operation and calibration of test stands.
• Maintain and develop lab process standard work documentation.
