Job summary

Carrier Syracuse Innovation, Technology and Engineering (SITE) design center is seeking a Staff Lab Technician to qualify next‑generation compressor technologies. You will operate and maintain test stands, connect piping and instrumentation, and gather data under NEC/UL guidelines.

Responsibilities include system testing, data collection, and implementing engineering changes while ensuring safety and compliance in a controlled lab environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with HVAC/R trade training or apprenticeship.
• Associate degree in HVAC/R or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Universal EPA Section 608 Certification preferred or training available within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Install and remove compressors from test stands.
• Fabricate and connect piping, wiring and test instrumentation.
• Perform system leak testing and refrigerant transfer between stands.
• Perform compressor testing under required operating conditions.
• Collect and manage test data with manual and automated systems.
• Modify test setups per engineering instructions.
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance of test stands.
