Staff Infrastructure Engineer — Deployment Platform Lead

Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an engineer to own and evolve our deployment platform, ensuring fast, safe, and predictable code delivery across a very large fleet. You will design APIs, extend runtimes, and implement robust rollout controls in production.

You will collaborate with multiple teams, build infrastructure-as-code workflows, and contribute to secure, scalable delivery of artifacts and configurations to machines with graceful rollback and guardrails.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Rust, Go, C++, or Java).
• Experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads (Kubernetes on AWS or GCP).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for deployment platform end to end.
• Build rollout safety into the platform, including progressive delivery and rollback.
• Design APIs and abstractions for engineers and AI agents.
• Extend the platform to new workloads and runtimes (Kubernetes to serverless).
• Build runtime configuration and feature flag systems with validation and rollout.
• Build infrastructure-as-code workflows used by teams for safe changes.
• Scale artifact distribution across machines quickly and efficiently.
• Partner with Security to ensure secure production paths.
• Collaborate with teams to understand deployment needs and support workloads.
• Take part in on-call and incident response, turning learnings into guardrails.
