Job summary

Docker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape architecture and build core systems for its AI substrate platform. You will lead design across cloud environments, focusing on secure, reproducible deployments and fleet-scale reconciliation with Go and Kubernetes.

The role emphasizes production ownership, distributed systems expertise, and collaboration with runtime, identity, and observability teams, while mentoring peers and setting ongoing technical direction.

Qualifications

Cloud control plane experience in production across multiple tenants/environments.
Kubernetes controllers/operators and declarative design at fleet scale.
Hands-on with at least one major cloud (compute, networking, identity, services).
Production ownership: on-call, incidents, SLOs, post-mortems.

Responsibilities

Design and build the enterprise agentic platform across clouds (Go, Kubernetes).
Ensure platform consistency across providers with strong security and network boundaries.
Own release and supply chain path for reproducible deployments.
Operate and maintain production systems including on-call and incident response.
Set technical direction with architects and leadership, collaborate with runtime, identity, observability teams.
Mentor teammates and raise the bar through code design and reviews.
