Job summary

Docker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and build the systems that deploy, release, and operate their agentic platform for enterprise customers. You will work in Go and Kubernetes, owning production ownership and the release path across clouds.

The role emphasizes distributed systems design, deep cloud knowledge, and Go proficiency, with on-call responsibilities and opportunities to mentor a growing team.

Qualifications

• Cloud control plane built and operated in production with pager experience.
• Kubernetes controllers/operators and declarative reconciliation.
• Hands-on with at least one major cloud (compute, networking, identity).
• Production ownership including on-call, incident response, SLOs, post-mortems.
• Distributed systems design: fault tolerance, observability, idempotent reconciliation.
• Go language proficiency; Docker backend is in Go.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering in infrastructure, platform, or cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems that deploy, release, and operate Docker's agentic platform for enterprise customers, in Go and on Kubernetes.
• Ensure the platform runs across clouds with required security, identity, and network boundaries.
• Own the release and software supply chain path for reproducible deployments.
• Operate what you build: production ownership, on-call, SLOs, incident response, and tooling.
• Set technical direction with the team's architect and engineering leadership, and collaborate with runtime, DX, identity, and observability teams.
• Raise the bar through design reviews, testing discipline, and mentoring as the team grows.
