Job summary

Docker is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape architecture and build core systems for the Docker AI Substrate team. You will help deploy, release, and operate enterprise-grade agentic platforms with Go and Kubernetes, and own the release/supply chain responsibilities for reliable deployments.

Locations include Seattle, WA or Palo Alto, CA, with a remote-first mindset and strong emphasis on security, observability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• You have built and operated a cloud control and management plane.
• Kubernetes beyond deployment: controllers, operators, CRDs, declarative at scale.
• Deep in at least one major cloud with hands-on compute, networking, identity, and managed services.
• Production ownership: on-call, incident response, SLOs, post-mortems.
• Distributed systems design: fault tolerance, consistency, observability, idempotent reconciliation.
• Go: professional proficiency; Docker's backend is in Go.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering in infrastructure, platform, or cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems that deploy, release, and operate Docker's agentic platform for enterprise customers, in Go and on Kubernetes.
• Ensure platform consistency across cloud providers with strong security and network boundaries.
• Own the release and supply chain path so deployments are reproducible and trusted.
• Operate what you build: production ownership, on-call, SLOs, incident response, and tooling.
• Set technical direction with architect and leadership; collaborate with runtime, dev-ex, identity, and observability teams.
• Mentor teammates and raise the bar through design reviews and testing discipline.
