Job summary

Carbon Direct is hiring a Staff Full Stack Engineer to help scale our AI-augmented software and support carbon/climate initiatives. This is a full-time, remote-friendly role with USA work location and collaboration with product, science, and business teams.

You will design and ship end-to-end features across front-end, back-end, and databases, while upholding enterprise-scale quality in a SOC 2/ISO 27001 environment.

Qualifications

• Significant full-stack engineering experience across frontend, backend, databases, and deployment.
• Experience building scalable systems and making tradeoffs in multi-layer architectures.
• Experience deploying AI-augmented software to production.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity and ship viable solutions quickly.
• Strong collaboration with product, science, and business stakeholders.
• Experience in carbon, climate, or energy sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy full-stack features end-to-end.
• Develop systems from the ground up and expand product surface area.
• Prototype quickly to test hypotheses and decide what to rework.
• Harden prototypes for enterprise-scale deployment.
• Make sound architectural decisions with limited precedent.
• Ship code regularly and ensure quality and reliability.
• Shape engineering practices and set technical direction as a senior voice.
• Support developer experience for AI contributors from non-engineering backgrounds.
