Job summary

Carbon Direct is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and scale systems that help clients tackle carbon, climate strategy, and energy challenges. You will work across the stack with product, science, and business teams to put AI-augmented software into production.

You’ll own features from discovery to launch, ship code regularly, and help define engineering direction in an ISO 27001/SOC 2 environment. Remote-friendly with in-person offices in Seattle and Oakland.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience as a full-stack engineer across front-end, back-end, databases, and deployment.
• Track record of building systems from scratch and operating them at scale with sound tradeoffs.
• Experience deploying AI-augmented software in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy full-stack features end-to-end.
• Build systems from the ground up and grow the product surface area.
• Prototype quickly to test hypotheses and decide what to keep or discard.
• Harden prototypes for enterprise-scale deployment.
• Make sound architectural decisions with limited precedent.
• Ship code to production regularly and ensure quality and reliability.
• Shape engineering practices and technical direction as an early senior voice.
• Support developer experience for AI-empowered contributors from non-engineering backgrounds.
