Job summary

Carbon Direct seeks an experienced full-stack engineer to design, build, and deploy end-to-end features, growing the product surface area and taking systems from ground up to enterprise scale.

You will work across front-end, back-end, databases, and deployment, making sound architectural choices and shipping reliable code. Collaborate with design, product, scientists, and business stakeholders in a remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience as a full-stack engineer across front-end, back-end, databases and deployment.
• Track record building systems from scratch and operating them at scale in multi-layer distributed environments.
• Experience deploying AI-augmented software systems to production.
• Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, able to scope problems and ship viable solutions.
• Team player who collaborates with design partners, product managers, scientists, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience as a full-stack engineer, with the depth to work confidently across front-end, back-end, databases, and deployment.
• A track record of building systems from scratch and operating them at scale, with the judgment to make sound tradeoffs in multi-layer distributed systems.
• An innovator who uses agentic engineering tools in their daily workflow and has deployed AI-augmented software systems to production.
• A self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, able to scope problems, and biased toward shipping viable solutions over waiting for perfect specs.
• Able to hit the ground running and contribute within days, not weeks.
• Strong product instincts and commercial awareness. You care about what you're building and why, not just how.
• A team player who collaborates effectively with design partners, product managers, scientists, and business stakeholders, translating their needs into technical solutions.
• Experience working in carbon, climate, or energy is a strong plus.
