Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production software with enterprise-grade scale and reliability.
• Deep hands-on experience with Python, Go and Node.js, PostgreSQL at production scale, and Kubernetes on Azure.
• In-depth APIs and integrations across internal and external services: REST, protobuf, messaging, OAuth, with secure data exchange.
• Strong focus on non-functional design: scalability, availability, latency budgets, caching, and security.
• Solid, hands-on CI/CD: automated build, test, and deployment pipelines.
• Production-grade observability: logs, metrics, traces, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response.
• Practical AI-assisted engineering using tools like Claude in the SDLC with guardrails.
• Establishing best practices to raise engineering standards across the team.
• Comfortable translating ambiguous requirements into scoped engineering work for customers.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build across distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and infra while shipping your own code.
• Set targets for scalability, reliability, availability, latency, performance, security, and observability.
• Collaborate on projects like MHEV, Drone, and 3DCC to deliver scalable solutions.
• Decompose APIs into bounded services and improve data-access patterns for scalability.
• Upgrade and ensure reliability by reducing debt and standing up observability and CI/CD.
• Be the US-based single point of contact for fullstack work and guide customer-driven engineering.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise engineering standards across backend and infrastructure.
