Compass is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Transaction Journey organization in New York. You will lead frontend engineering for a transaction management platform, shaping architecture and delivering high-impact features for agents and clients.

You will mentor engineers, promote best practices, and collaborate with product and design to build scalable, reliable, and easy-to-use software. The role emphasizes strong communication, leadership, and a passion for real estate technology.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building high-performance software in Typescript, Javascript, and HTML/CSS.
• 5+ years with React and NodeJS.
• 3+ years of experience using AWS/cloud technologies.
• Technical leader with cross-team impact and strong architectural influence.
• Strong CI/CD, containerization, Agile/Scrum practices and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and ownership of platform architecture and data pipelines to deliver scalable search at scale.
• Independently lead the delivery of complex projects across the full tech stack.
• Drive reliability by defining KPIs, improving service health, and reducing technical debt.
