Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Frontend for the Advanced Trading team to own the front-end technical strategy across web and mobile platforms. You will drive low-latency interfaces and ensure performance, reliability, and scalability for experienced traders.

You will mentor engineers, partner with product and leadership, and shape engineering practices to scale with a growing, remote‑first team.

Qualifications

8+ years of iOS or Android mobile software engineering experience (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android).
Proven track record optimizing complex UI systems for performance, including rendering, network efficiency, and state management at scale.
Experience leading technical strategy for a product area, including architecture decisions and cross‑team alignment.
Demonstrated success mentoring senior engineers and driving improvements in engineering standards and delivery velocity.
Familiarity with high‑availability, low‑latency systems (trading platforms or real‑time data apps).
Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

Own the front-end technical roadmap for Coinbase Advanced, defining architecture for web and mobile.
Drive performance improvements across rendering, network efficiency, and state management for low-latency trading.
Lead multi‑quarter tech initiatives end‑to‑end with high standards for code quality and system design.
Mentor senior engineers to elevate technical decision-making and team growth.
Partner with Product and Engineering to translate business priorities into actionable technical plans.
Shape frontend engineering practices and patterns to scale with a growing team.
