Job summary

Compass, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Transaction Journey organization. You will lead frontend and platform-level work to streamline real estate transactions, collaborating with product and design teams to deliver high-impact features for agents and clients.

You will design fault-tolerant, scalable systems, promote best practices, and mentor engineers while delivering well-tested code and actionable insights across teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested software applications in Typescript, Javascript, and HTML/CSS.
• 5+ years of experience with React and NodeJS.
• 3+ years of experience using AWS / cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and ownership of platform architecture to deliver scalable experiences.
• Independently define and lead the delivery of complex technical projects across the stack.
• Champion reliability by defining KPIs and improving service health and reducing operational toil.
• Adopt modern software patterns, including AI integration, data pipelines, and telemetry systems.
• Operate in a scalable engineering culture with CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.
