Compass, Inc. in New York is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Transaction Journey to lead frontend architecture and build a scalable transaction platform spanning forms, eSign, compliance review, and commissions.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design, and align tech decisions with AI-enabled workflows. The role demands delivering high-quality, well-tested code and shaping the future of real estate technology at Compass.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested software in Typescript, Javascript, and HTML/CSS.
• 5+ years of experience with React and NodeJS.
• 3+ years of experience using AWS/cloud technologies.
• Track record as a technical leader with cross-team impact.
• Knowledge of AI-related technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and ownership of platform architecture and data ingestion to enable scalable search experiences.
• Independently define and lead delivery of complex technical projects across the full stack.
• Champion operational excellence by defining reliability KPIs and reducing toil and costs.
• Adopt modern software patterns, including AI, data pipelines, and telemetry to automate workflows.
• Inspire, recruit, and mentor fellow engineers.
