Attentive is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and operation of high-scale backend systems for our user-profile data platform. You will drive architectural direction and collaborate across engineering, product, data, and ML teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.

You will blend hands-on coding with strategic leadership, shaping core infrastructure and ensuring data quality and observability at scale, while mentoring other engineers and defining engineering standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Track record of technical leadership on multi-team initiatives.
• Deep experience with high-scale data ingestion, processing, and streaming architectures.
• Strong programming and software-design skills in Java or similar backend languages.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and architecture for high-scale systems and APIs.
• Lead cross-team initiatives across APIs, streaming, data processing, and integrations.
• Design foundational platform capabilities for user-profile data and subscription lifecycle management.
• Drive investments to improve scalability, reliability, data quality, observability, and performance.
• Partner with product, data, and ML teams to support segmentation, personalization, and ML capabilities.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, architectural guidance, and coding on foundational work.
