OnPay is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to advance our core payroll offerings. This role combines hands-on coding (PHP, Go, React) with architecture,DevOps, and mentoring. You will work with product, engineering and customer experience teams to shape direction, improve reliability, and deliver scalable payroll features.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Experience with payroll or HRIS is a plus.
• Strong collaboration with product, engineering and customer experience teams.
• Hands-on with PHP, Go, React and modern cloud stack.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Map out new features and enhancements for core payroll products with leadership.
• Collaborate with Customer Experience to deliver best solutions.
• Troubleshoot customer issues and document decisions.
• Lead architectural discussions and trade-offs.
• Own production operations, monitoring, and SLAs.
• Mentor others and drive cross-team execution.
