Job summary

BD is seeking a Staff Engineer for New Product Development in Franklin Lakes, NJ, hybrid four days in the office. You will lead development of next‑generation thermoplastic elastomer formulations for medical devices, guiding science from concept to scalable solutions.

This role blends polymer science, materials characterization, and hands-on experimentation with collaboration across R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to deliver high-impact medical technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• Significant polymer research and material characterization experience.
• Proven ability to design experiments and develop structure‑property relationships.
• Strong scientific writing and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to independently lead technically challenging research programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of next‑gen TPE formulations for medical devices.
• Design research strategies on polymer composition, processing, aging influence on device performance.
• Build predictive models and robust characterization methods for material platforms.
• Translate customer, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory requirements into material design inputs and verification strategies.
