Job summary

b.well Connected Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to operate at the seams of a distributed healthcare platform. You’ll own core libraries, resolve cross-service incidents, and drive architectural decisions across Java microservices, FHIR handling, and data pipelines on AWS.

We expect 8+ years of software engineering with deep Spring/JVM experience, strong debugging skills, and a track record of shipping multi-service initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep Java and Spring
• Proven experience owning distributed systems in production and debugging complex issues
• Experience maintaining a library or service with many internal consumers and staged rollout
• Comfort reading healthcare data standards – FHIR (HL7 R4) or similar
• Track record of driving technical initiatives across multiple services/teams
• Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB in production and AWS (EKS/Kubernetes, S3)
• Strong written communication and ability to write design docs/ADRs
• Bias toward root-cause analysis and long-term reliability over quick patches

Responsibilities

• Root-cause incidents across Kafka, FHIR persistence, and downstream services with hypothesis-driven investigation
• Own cross-cutting technical initiatives end-to-end and coordinate multi-repo PRs
• Set technical direction for a platform slice; write design docs and ADRs
• Raise the bar on code review and engineering standards across repositories
• Be a force multiplier by unblocking engineers and turning investigations into reusable tooling
• Balance urgency with correctness and decide when to ship fixes vs. root causes
