Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Staff Engineer II – MuleSoft to design, develop, and support scalable integration solutions across our Digital Asset Platform. You will lead API design, governance, and secure API implementations while guiding cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and compliance.

You will also communicate technical solutions and progress to stakeholders, participate in UAT and production releases, and contribute to documentation and policy adherence.

Qualifications

• 7 years in design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of MuleSoft APIs with MuleSoft 4.x Anypoint and CloudHub.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Financial Services regulatory obligations.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects with Azure DevOps.
• Experience in production support, incident management, and root cause analysis.
• Experience defining API standards and leading API-led connectivity discussions.
• Experience using Agile and iterative development practices.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools to improve delivery efficiency.
• Experience with CI/CD and version control (Azure DevOps).
• MuleSoft Certification (Developer Level 1 or above) preferred.
• Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
• Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic planning of a project as it relates to technical solution design.
• Design and implement engineering principles for reliability and recovery procedures.
• Build APIs using RAML or Open API with governance and naming standards.
• Secure APIs using OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, TLS, and API Manager policies.
• Design, develop, and maintain systems with enterprise error handling, logging, and monitoring.
• Support UAT, production releases, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and IT policy compliance.
