Job summary

OnPay, a fast-growing software company in Atlanta, seeks a hands-on Staff Engineer to advance core payroll offerings. You’ll work with product and customer teams to shape direction and deliver features, while improvingDevOps and system reliability.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of experience and expertise in PHP, Go, React, Docker, MySQL, Mongo, Redis, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP). Remote-friendly with a strong customer focus and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Prior Payroll or HRIS experience is a plus.
• Experience with PHP, Go, React, Docker, MySQL, Mongo and Redis is preferred.
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes.

Responsibilities

• Map out new features and enhancements for core payroll products.
• Collaborate with Customer Experience to ensure best solutions for business functionality.
• Troubleshoot ongoing customer issues and document decisions.
• Lead architectural discussions and ensure secure, performant systems.
• Own production operation, monitoring, and SLAs, with on-call participation.
• Mentor teammates and drive cross-team collaboration.
