Job summary

OnPay is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our Atlanta-based team and help deliver core payroll features. You will work with product and engineering leaders to shape direction, write robust code, and mentor others while balancing customer needs and technical priorities.

You’ll bring hands-on PHP, Go, React experience, plus cloud and DevOps know-how. We offer remote flexibility across the U.S. with an optional Atlanta HQ presence and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Prior Payroll or HRIS experience is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with PHP, Go, React, Docker, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis.

Responsibilities

• Map out new features and enhancements for core payroll products.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to plan work.
• Troubleshoot customer issues with Customer Experience.
• Document systems and technical decisions for peers.
• Balance feature delivery with technology improvements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and production support.
• Mentor teammates and drive ownership of refactors and upgrades.
